	One may have predicted 2008 to be an unlucky model year for the then-new, second-generation Toyota Highlander. Just a few months prior, Mazda's first-gen CX-9 debuted for the '07 model year, and shortly thereafter won a comparison test against the Acura MDX and GMC Acadia. Obviously, the Highlander had stiff competition before it even hit the street. Making matters worse for Toyota, the CX-9 got better for '08, thanks to a more powerful 3.7-liter V-6 that replaced the initial 3.5. 	The seven-seater mazda CX 9 was introduced in 2007 and is coming face-lifted in 2010. The CX-9 combines the space of a minivan with the utility of an SUV in a style and delivers the sporty feel of Mazda Zoom-Zoom approach. The look is somewhat aggressive than most other roomy crossovers. The CX-9's styling is not the kind of “off-road-tough” of many SUVs. Unlike many high-horsepower V-6 engines, the 3.7-liter motor does not require high-octane fuels, yet produces 273 horsepower. A smooth six-speed automatic is standard. The CX-9 has responsive handling for a vehicle of its size and weight. Fuel economy isn’t a strong point for the CX-9, though. Though CX-9 is not the biggest one, the front seats are comfortable, and three rows of seating make the CX-9 quite useful for a family. The second row is split 60/40, reclines, or folds flat for cargo duty. Good ride comfort, pleasing interiors and impressive quality give the CX-9 rather luxury leef.
